Conejo Botanic Garden: A Family-Friendly Destination for Nature Lovers

1 minute read

The Conejo Valley botanical garden is a recreational and educational hidden gem a few miles from the crowded Los Angeles. Retreat to this natural hillside and enjoy a panoramic view over Thousand Oaks and Conejo Valley.

The Botanical Garden

Since 1976, the non-profit Conejo Valley Botanic Garden, Inc. operates the 33-acre hillside area. It includes 15 gardens, easy hiking trails with benches, a kid adventure garden (Sunday from 11 am to 3 pm), a bird habitat, plant sales (check website for operating hours), and multiple fauna and flora information.

Specialty Gardens

Stroll the area to discover the 15 gardens including the native plant section, the oak tree grove, the Australian garden, the Desert Garden, the tranquility garden, and much more.

Navigate colorful and verdant paths and discover a beautiful landscape. As you explore the top of the hill, enjoy the panoramic view.

There are many native plants to discover like the Matilija Poppy (the botanic name is Romneya coulteri). This yellow and white flower was named after the Chumash Indian chief Matilija and his tribe (Ventura County)
