A short hike to enjoy a 360-degree view over the 588-acre King Gillette ranch and the Santa Monica Mountains.
Information:
– Distance: 2.2 miles.
– Difficulty: Easy
– Time: 1:00 hour
– Elevation gain: 383 feet
The trail starts behind King Gillette ranch.

If you park next to the visitor center, follow the paved road, and cross the bridge on your right. After a few feet, engage on the dirty path behind a building. There are no signs to indicate the trail. However, it is an easy loop to follow.

The next quarter mile is ascending the hill. Enjoy the view and catch your breath. After a quick turn, you will reach Inspiration Point.

From Inspiration Point, you will overlook King Gillette ranch and the surrounding Santa Monica mountains.

Once at the top, descend the hill. Then the path is gradually flat as you approach the ranch vicinity.
Afar, catch the Malibu Hindu Temple.

Did you know?
King Gillette ranch was built in the 1920s for razor magnate King C. Gillette.

Finally, you will reach the ranch. If you have extra time, check out the visitor center to learn more about natural resources and California’s cultural and historic past.

Article based on my hike in December 2022.
